My 50 Great but Forgotten and Sadly Ignored Albums # 45 Bombs Away Dream Babies(1979)

Bombs Away Dream Babies( 1979) is one of two albums that the Legendary John Stewart has on my list, he could have had 4 but I had to draw a line somewhere. For those who are asking, Who Is John Stewart? Well this album is as good a place to start. John Stewart is a former member of the legendary Folk Group The Kingston Trio and as a solo artist he released 57 albums including Live and greatest Hit releases, he is also the writer of one of the Monkees biggest songs Daydream Believer and wrote runaway Train for Rosanne Cash.

Bombs away Dream Babies was not his most successful album in sales but rewarded him with 3 top 40 hits in North America, Lost Her In The Sun #34 Midnight Wind #28 and his biggest hit Gold which hit #5. This album also featured Stevie Nicks and lindsey Buckingham and was perhaps his most pop oriented album of his career as his previous albums were all steeped in either Folk or the Country Rock sound of the late 60’s and early 70’s, the album itself hit as high as #10 on the billboard top 100 and sold over 1 million copies but sadly today this album is one of the forgotten albums of the 70’s despite who is on it and the fact that it contains more radio friendly songs than any other album that he did in his lifetime.

John Stewart Died in January 2008.
